This is a rather personal post, not so much for me but definitely for the person I am writing about. This friend of mine has generously and graciously allowed me to share our interaction.
Because of her graciousness and vulnerability, I ask that if you don’t agree with the opinion I am about to express (you’re quite entitled not to) and you absolutely must comment, please maintain respect and love or your comment/s will be deleted.Read More
I had a few issues in the shower the other day. Yes, I know, you would assume that by my age I would have mastered that daily task, but no, I just couldn’t get the temperature right. Pretty soon the water was scalding hot and I was frantically turning the hot tap down, to no avail.Read More
Whilst sitting in the presence of God I opened my hands as an act of submission and surrender to Him. As I started to relax, I noticed my hands sprang back into a semi closed position.
Having my hands completely open with fingers outstretched and palms exposed was not a natural position for me, it required a concentrated determination of my will to keep my hands outstretched.
During a series of art classes in high school, we had to choose a partner so we could sketch each other’s faces as realistically as possible.
My partner did really well. She accurately represented all of my features…except for my jaw line.
It was a little Roger Ramjet-ish.
My friend admitted that she hadn’t quite nailed that part. And whilst I knew logically that it wasn’t a true representation of my face, I still obsessed about my chin.
I became seriously paranoid about it.
When we judge or condemn other people for their choices, we place ourselves in prime position to lose our own sure footing.
Self-righteousness and pride sneak up on us long before we recognise them operating in ourselves.
We must never forget exactly where and what it was, that our Father God redeemed us from.
We must never forget that it is His grace alone that keeps our head above water. It is through Holy Spirit alone that we gain any wisdom with which we can make life-giving choices.
