Lacklustre Love

Many times, especially among people who move in prophetic and healing circles, I hear talk about; reaching ‘new levels’ and seeing ‘greater realms’.

These discussions make it seem as though a video game is being played and a new achievement has been reached, unlocking a special feature.

I’m not for a second saying that the hearts of these people aren’t genuine and that their experiences aren’t real, they are, and I share many of them.
In fact God’s word encourages us to “desire that you may prophesy”, it is good, it is noble…. But, we are also warned, in the same book:

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. (I Corinthians 13:2 NKJV)

Prophecy and other spiritual gifts are exciting, faith-boosting and deeply encouraging.

For me personally, I can’t separate the prophetic from my personality, it’s part of who I am… But it is NOTHING, I am NOTHING without love!

What use is a word of knowledge when I have no genuine concern for people as precious and unique individuals?

So often, what we as Christians deem to be the ‘deeper’ things of God, are in fact the most simple and basic but also the most fundamental!

I’ve written a lot about love lately.
It is a topic close to God’s heart, for very good reason, it is in fact WHO He is, so it’s not a concept He will let us remain un-grasped if we expect to be instrumental in His kingdom.
