Tonight this mama’s heart is burgeoning with an eclectic mix of excitement, anxiety, joy and sadness- none of which I was entirely anticipating. Tomorrow, our firstborn child aka Captain Responsible or Master Maturity departs for his longest stint away from home, and his first of hopefully many overseas adventures; a mission trip to Cambodia with his school.
I received the invitation from my friend Brett ‘Fish’ Anderson (please check out his amazing and diverse blog; Irresistibly Fish, you will not be disappointed) , to contribute an article to his series on Parenting, whilst I was smack bang in the middle of hosting my own magnificent personal pity party, all in honour of my perceived parental failure. So my initial response to the email was not exactly enthusiastic, more along the lines of: ‘OH HECK NO! What advice can I offer anyone?’
I haven’t released a corporate prophetic word in a while. And while this one is technically corporate, it’s certainly not generic and won’t be for all of you, in fact I think it will only be for a few, that’s not to say it’s some ‘exclusive’ word, simply that we are all called to the same path, we just have different companions on the way and our pit stops differ.
So if this strikes a chord within your spirit, a recognition of calling, then I encourage you to sit with it and ask God what the carrying out of this will look like for you- as you should with all prophetic words. Question it, weigh it, test it, we are not meant to be mindless robots.
A couple of months ago I did an online aptitude test, it was recommended as a tool to help highlight my strengths and weaknesses. HA! Like I need help with that, my weaknesses are oh so very apparent without the need for a test!
However, in a revelation that I did not see coming, another weakness was revealed, a rather troubling one.
The test concluded, not gently, that I lacked purpose.
